An ideal package for travelers searching for a budget tour, this is a Classical North India tour, taking you to all it’s highlights.  Your budget tour package starts in India’s capital – Delhi, and then takes you to the city of the Ganges - Varanasi, the city of temples – Khajuraho, the city of the Taj Mahal – Agra, the Pink city of Jaipur, city of lakes – Udaipur, and finally to India’s commercial capital  - Mumbai.  Over the years, plenty of our clients, searching for budget tours in India, have requested us to incorporate overnight train travel between cities, hence, this tour has two overnight train journeys as well.  What is important to note, is that, inspite of this trip being called a North India budget tour, it includes comprehensive sightseeing in each city, and entrance fee to all monuments that we consider are worth visiting.

Day 01 – Arrive Delhi

India Budget TourYou will be met at the airport by Trans India Holidays representative and transferred to Hotel Parkland and assisted with check in formalities.

Delhi is the capital of India, and its third largest city. Delhi consists of two parts – New Delhi, the city created in 1911 as the imperial capital of India by the British and the Old Delhi, the Muslim capital of India between the 17th and 19th centuries. In fact there have been at least eight cities on the site of modern Delhi – the earliest known settlement, Indraprastha, featured in the epic Mahabharata over 3000 years ago. Though not always the capital, Delhi has always been an important city of northern region of the subcontinent.

India Budget TourDay 02 – Sightseeing in Delhi and Overnight train to Varanasi

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi.  Tour includes visits to the following places of interest Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Raj Ghat, Birla Mandir, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan (President’s House), Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar.

Late evening transfer to the railway station intime to board overnight train for Varanasi (1845/0730 hrs -- next day) -- (standard check out time from the hotel is 1200 hrs noon).

Day 03 – Arrive Varanasi

Varanasi - Varanasi, the ‘eternal city’ is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India and also a major tourist attraction.  Situated on the banks of the sacred Ganges, Varanasi has been a center of learning for over 2000 years.  Besides being a pilgrimage center, it is considered an auspicious place to die, ensuring an instant route to heaven.  Varanasi is still a center of learning, especially for Sanskrit scholars, and students flock here from all over India. 

The old city of Varanasi is situated along the west bank of the Ganges and extends back from the riverbank ghats in a winding collection of narrow alleys. They’re too narrow for anything but walking and tall houses overhang the picturesque, though hardly clean, lanes.  The town extends from Raj Ghat, near the bridge, to Asi Ghat, near the university.

You will be met at the Varanasi railway station by our representative and transferred to Hotel Hindustan International and assisted with check in formalities (standard check in time at the hotel is 1200 hrs noon).

Later, you will be picked up again from your hotel for the guided tour of Varanasi. Tour includes visits following places of interest – Asi Ghat, Dugra Temple, Kashi – Vishwanath or Golden Temple.

Budget Tours IndiaDay 04 - Boat ride in Varanasi, and flight to Khajuraho

The day starts early with a dawn boat ride on the holy river The Ganges. Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the river Ganges. A highlight of any trip to Varanasi - this is an incredible scene, as a multitude of devotees comes to the river to pay homage to the Sun God. The riverfront, as seen from a boat at sunrise, is a spiritually uplifting sight.

Return to hotel. After leisurely breakfast, you will be met by our representative and assisted with check-out formalities. Then you will be transferred to airport in time to board flight for Khajuraho.

Khajuraho : Khajuraho was once the capital of the Chandela Rajputs of Bundelkhand. It is home to the world famous 10th century Khajuraho temples. These temples represent some of the most exquisite specimens of medieval Hindu architecture and sculpture in the country.

You will be met at Khajuraho airport by our representative and transferred to Hotel Ramada and assisted with check in formalities.

No activities are scheduled for this day. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the hotel facilities or exploring the city on your own.

Day 05 - Sightseeing in Khajuraho and drive to Jhansi and Train to Agra

Budget Tours IndiaAfter breakfast at hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Khajuraho Tour visiting the Eastern and Western group of Chandela Temples.

Later in the afternoon, you will be met by our representative at hotel and assisted with check out formalities. You will then start your drive to Jhansi nearest railway station of Khajuraho, and board the Shatabdi Express train to Agra (1755/2025hrs).

Agra, situated on the bank of Yamuna River, is home to India’s most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. Agra was the capital of Mughal Empire in the 16th & 17th centuries and its superb monuments date from this era

You will be met in Agra at railway station by our representative and transferred to Hotel Amar and assisted with check in formalities.

Budget Tours IndiaDay 06 – Sightseeing in Agra and train to Jaipur

The day starts early with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Taj Mahal.  India’s most famous and photographed monument, this is truly a sight to behold.

Return to hotel for breakfast. Later, you will be picked up again for the guided tour of Agra Fort.

Early evening, you will be met by our representative and transfer to the railway station intime to board train to Jaipur (1740/2215).

Jaipur – Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the “Pink City” because of the pink – colored buildings in its old city. It is situated on a dry lakebed in a somewhat arid landscape, surrounded by barren hills surmounted by forts and crenellated walls. Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, who was careful to cultivate good favour with the ruling Mughals, he laid out the city with rectangular blocks according to ancient Hindu architecture. It is a wonderful city for shopping.

You will be met at Jaipur railway station by our representative and transferred to Hotel Mandawa Haveli and assisted with check in formalities.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Jaipur and Amber.  Tour includes visits to the following places of interest – Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort. Your sightseeing tour includes an Elephant ride up the Fort.


Overnight  at Jaipur.


Day 08 - Day in Jaipur and Overnight train to Udaipur

Day at leisure to explore Jaipur on your own.  Hotel Check out at 1200 hrs.

udaipur: - Udaipur, the famed 'city of sunrise', was founded in 1567 by Maharana Udai Singh, a fearless Rajput king. This languid lake city with its fantasies in marble, picturesque hibiscus-covered gardens and elaborate fountain pavilions, embodies the glory of the Rajput era. Like many other cities in Rajasthan, Udaipur is the legacy of an honour-bound race that loved the good things in life - and often gave up their lives defending them.

Overnight onboard train to Udaipur.


Day 09 – Arrive Udaipur

Budget Tours in IndiaArrive Udaipur. You will be met at the Udaipur railway station by our representative and transferred to Hotel Rajdarshan and assisted with check in formalities (standard check in time at the hotel is 1200 hrs noon).

Later you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Udaipur. Tour includes visits to the following places of interest – City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari and a photostop on the banks of the Lake Pichola.

Rest of the day is at leisure and can be spent enjoying the hotel facilities or exploring the city on your own.

Day 10 - Fly Udaipur – Mumbai

India Budget TourAfter breakfast at hotel, you will be met by our representative and assisted with check-out formalities. You will then be transferred to airport in time to board flight for Mumbai.

Mumbai – Formerly known as Bombay, is the commercial capital of India. Known as the "city that never sleeps", Mumbai is a potpourri of cultures, customs and lifestyles. This is a city that thrives on commerce at every level during the day and lets its hair down unabashedly at night. Mumbai is also home to the largest film industry in the country. The city is dotted with a multitude of Victorian and Indian architectural landmarks that add to its charm.

You will be met at the airport by our representative and transferred to Hotel Suba Palace and assisted with check in formalities.

Later you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Mumbai. Tour includes visits to the following places of interest The Prince of Wales Museum, Victoria Terminus, Gateway of India, Marine Drive and Mani Bhavan (the former home of Mahatma Gandhi).

Overnight in Mumbai.


Day 11 - Depart Mumbai

You will be met by our representative at your hotel and assisted with check out formalities, followed by transfer to airport in time for your flight home (standard check out time from the hotel is 1200 hrs noon).
