Day 01 – Arrive Leh
The city of Leh, located north of the Indus River, is home to the Namgyal Palace and Namgyal Tsemo. The palace is an astounding nine stories tall. Leh in ancient history had been the capital of Stod. A renaissance of the city occurred in the 1970s and there has been renewed interest in Leh as a viable tourist attraction.
Day 02 – In Leh
You will spend a busy day sightseeing gompas with Leh Ladakh Holiday Packages. Gompas are monasteries or hermitages that are usually secluded and away from the nearest village. The first stop is Thiksey Gompa and is known for its impressive architecture. The Shey Palace and Gompa is the next destination and as the name implies once houses the royal family. Hemis Gompa, noted for a major summer festival in honor of the birth of Guru Padma Sambhava, is quite impressive. Made of mud bricks, the Ladakhi House offers visitors the chance to enjoy salt tea or dress in traditional Ladakhi garb.
Day 03 –Drive Leh – Nubra Valley (125 kms/05 hrs)
You will visit the remarkable Khardungal Pass during Leh Ladakh Holiday Packages tour. It holds world recognition as being the highest road to operate a motor vehicle on, with an elevation of 18,390 feet around 38 kms. The Nubra Valley, which translated means “the valley of flowers”, is known due to the Bactarian Camels a favorite sight of tourists. Other memorable stops during today’s activities include Deskit Gampa and Hundar Village.
Day 04 -Drive Nubra Valley – Leh (125 kms/05 hrs)
You will again travel on the unbelievable Khardungal Pass as you return to Leh. You and your fellow travelers will take a tour of the Samstanling Gompa on your last full day of Leh Ladakh Holiday Packages tour. This monastery is the home base for 50 to 60 monks. The facility was established over a hundred years ago and has rather strict guidelines.
Day 05 –Depart Leh
You enjoyed five action-packed days of sightseeing. You come away from this holiday with a new respect for the cultural and religious ways of the Indian cities of Delhi and Lea.
