Bombay or Mumbai

The financial capital of India ,its most cosmopolitan city , Bombay is the industrial powerhouse of India. The city is basically a group of seven islands amalgamated in to one in the year 1862.

Your tour of Bombay starts with a visit to the Gateway of India - the majestic arch built on the waterfront to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. The next stop on your tour of Bombay is the Prince of Wales museum built in 1905. The museum consists of a fine collection of miniature bas-reliefs from the Elephanta caves. Proceed along the Marine Drive, one of Bombay’s most popular promenades, dotted by sky scrapers on one side and the Arabian sea on the other. Proceed on to the Hanging Gardens a beautiful landscaped garden built on a series of reservoirs. Then drive on to Mani Bhawan where Mahatma Gandhi stayed from 1917-34.The tour terminates at the Nehru planetarium.
